Post modern says that everything is a construction such as good/bad one or the other what post modern does is challenge the options. Like blade runner in stead of being one set genre it blurs them. It also looks at replicas and there relationships, Synthetic mankind vs mankind?
Postmodern will subvert the film for a purpose. Blade runner is a different version of the original text. The replicants have there narrative this elevates them in importance.

Blade Runner Effects Used to create a Distopian world
A Distopian world is set in the future which is still filled with poverty and crime.
Blade runner sets this image up straight away from the second scene, It starts with a birds eye view panning shot moving between buildings in china town, there are a lot of extras used to create the feel that the planet is getting over crowded, as the camera panns there is a lot of thick smog as well as massive blimps and billboards with bright lights which is a contrast to the smog as well as the constant rain that has set in, another problem that has to do with global warming, the bright lights look out of place in the dark over cast sky.

Blade runner, a post modern film
Blade runner uses different techniques from postmodern such as, 'Flattening of Affect' as well as 'More Human than Human' and has a variety of genres like, Film Noir, Science fiction and Crime.
In 2019, humans have genetically engineered Replicants, which are essentially humans who are designed for labor and entertainment purposes. They are illegal on earth, and if they make it to our planet they are to be hunted down and killed.
Rick Deckard is a blade runner, or a hunter of replicants. A group of replicants make it to Los Angeles to seek out a way to extend their life span. Replicants have a built in 4 year life span, and this group is at the end. Although he hunts them to the end, the replicants end up teaching the detached Deckard what it really means to be human.
It is post modern because of the two realties human and Androids, the Androids think they are human and there are two conflicting views, the Androids and the Humans they film questions what is humanity.
The film is the opposite to to a grand narrative as a grand narrative is Utopian, aiming for the best while Blade runner is set in a Distopian world different techniques are used to get this effects.

post modern theory
* The narrative is done by the author, they have the authority and makes the meaning to the texts the audience expect the Author to tell the truth as they have the power.
* Like in the bible God has all the power and can be classed as a Grand Narrative.
*Another example would be the victorians as men had the authority and were classed as superior
*A very important person to post modern is Bartats, who created the death of the author, which started post modernism.
*Fiction is not the truth who should decide what is the truth ? It is now up to the audience to believe in the meaning or the truth, There is no authority behind the meaning.
* Grand narrative- Start, Middle and the end
